LUCKY LARRY/KLOPS COLLAB
KLOPS x HOOKERbrand
Larry Silverstein has publicly stated that he was not at his office at the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001, due to a routine medical appointment.
Silverstein typically had meetings at the WTC every morning.
September 11, 2001: That morning, he had a dermatologist appointment and decided to skip his usual meeting at the North Tower (WTC 1), which ultimately saved his life.
His two adult children, both of whom also worked at Silverstein Properties and were supposed to be at the WTC that day, were also not present for various reasons and were unharmed.
After the attacks, Silverstein argued that the destruction of the Twin Towers constituted two separate terrorist attacks (since two planes were involved), and therefore he should be compensated twice under the insurance policy. Insurers argued it was a single event.
In 2004, a jury sided with Silverstein on some policies (allowing for two claims) but not all. Ultimately, he received about $4.55 billion in insurance payouts.
